RUNWAY TO WORKWAY: western style

Last Year, the new princess Kate worn the Stampede Western style immaculately in Calgary (don't you just love a fabulous blouse and perfect denim and the right cowboy hat!):

And on the runways, my favourite designer for Western style is Ralph Lauren (right after Dolce & Gabbana - see my previous RUNWAY TO WORKWAY post), who is not only recognizable but incredibly feminine and classic YET setting new trends each season! Love the quality and the style he represents and here are few images I found on Pinterest to share with you:

And today at the Stampede grounds I have seen lots of short shorts and long skirts and fun things that people wear...some are "wrong" and some are "right" and you judge it for yourself:

short shorts...

long skirts...

beautiful horses...

you may buy a horse saddle too....

and you will feel safe with our cowboy security and police all over LOL

After seeing it all there today...my tip is this...THE PERFECT COWBOY BOOT will make the outfit happen, will give you an edge and transform even the simplest look into the western hit!

Let me introduce our very own...Calgary ALBERTA BOOT COMPANY

...eel ...cowhide...ostrich...python...you name it...they have it!

Have a wonderful, western and fashionable week!

OUR HOUSE: wallpapers and more

Our guest room, powder room and second kids bedroom have a wall paper that reflects a lot of French country style.

First, here is what I did to our basement room for guests...

We split the room into 2 areas by wallpapering the part where the bed will be placed.

Then by hammering a perfectly good piece of oak wood (great stress reliever ...smiles...) and later staining it grayish brown colour (aging process and the opposite of what I try to do to my skin), the arch separating the bed from the rest of the room was completed.

Getting some woven window treatments in neutral mix of tones (gray, brown, beige, caramel) for the guest room and our complete basement actually.

The wallpaper is my favourite part of the room, I found it at Living With Lis Blog and loved it in the dining room setting so much, that I had to use the paper somewhere! Lis did an amazing job!

Benjamin Moore in Calgary Kensington tracked it down for me and all was good!
Here is the Wallpaper Information - Wild Orchid II

Having the custom bedding done was fun job, the bolster is fabulous to lean on and read or watch TV and don't need a headboard at all!

The cowboy hat is for my 18yrs old niece from the Czech Republic, who is coming over for 5 weeks to stay with us and go to the Stampede of course!
The door leads to a large walk in closet, just perfect for any long term guest ...

Second, the other kids' bedroom has been wallpapered just part way up (still has to be finished with some wood piece as a border) and it is a lovely playful motif ... loving the mint blue-green colours.

And third, our powder room has a lovely rose print and humming birds paper on the walls, green, blue, gray and hint of yellow are the colours.
That is really the colour scheme in our entire house.

I am considering placing a wall paper on the ceiling in the dining room, but have not decided yet, the room is Provence blue including the ceiling and I think that an interesting wall paper may add the painted ceiling effect ...fresco ...

Have you seen it done? Have you done it? Or if you have any helpful tips for me in that regard, I would love to hear from you, you can email me at z@zanetastyle.com....Thank you lots!

Calgary Stampede Parade Day:

It's here, the fun of our Cowboy festivities ... we went to see the Parade of the Greatest Open Air Show on Earth...in the morning!

First we got some Tim Horton's coffee for the adults that is...

What a cool day it was for Rad...smiles...

There was about 300,000 people watching the Parade!

It is fun to be a cowboy...says Radovan ... smiles....
